I found it ironic that at the Nov. 21 Auburn City Council meeting, Auburn’s mayor gave the attending audience some insight into how problematic businesses in our city are handled. He said something to the effect that they are put on notice and given three months to rectify the problems.
On Nov. 14, the citizens of Auburn issued Auburn city government officials their notice. The following week, city officials heard residents speak, but did not listen.
Some citizens obviously want immediate termination. I happen to think three months is a fair notice.
Auburn taxpayers should be expecting a radical change. I would hope city officials would not attempt the old tactic of serving up the city’s police officers, teachers, firefighters or waste disposal as the solution to cut the budget. That would not be acceptable.
If local businesses can do it, so can Auburn city officials.
In the meantime, Auburn residents will be preparing to take action.
