On Nov. 8, voters have to face a few important questions. Question 1 seems to be a very simple matter of yes or no. Recently, a letter from Elaine B Graham (Oct. 23) called Ronald Hecker’s letter (Oct. 13) a mistake. She continued by talking about an organization known as GALEN. But she left out a key word: “straight.” The full name of the organization is the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network. She went on to say she thinks the mission of this network is to promote homosexuality in the schools, which is not true. The truth of the matter is that its mission is to ensure safety for all students, regardless of sexual preference.
As both a student and former teacher (who lost his job because of bias against homosexuality), I can honestly say that in my years at school, I have never learned or heard of what Ms. Graham referred to as pro-homosexual propaganda.
I would like to remind everyone that Question 1 is for the “future generations” that yet have no voice to be able to put to ballot. Whether it is a young child first learning how to say “no” (usually one of the first words most children learn), or those not yet 18, I urge voters to think of them and vote no on Question 1 on Nov. 8.
