It never ceases to amaze me the lengths that the editorial page editor of the Sun Journal will go to in order to place a leftist spin on everything he writes. The editorial on embryonic stem cell research (Oct. 18) is one example. The article is full of distortions, deceptions and outright lies, just so he can once again try and place some sort of blame on the Bush administration.
Stem cell research is not banned as the writer would have you believe. Congress decided, in 1996, that federal funds could not be used to fund that type of research. They didn’t ban it, they only restricted the use of federal funds to research it.
Besides neglecting to mention that all of this took place on Clinton’s watch, the author also neglected to add that adult, not embryonic, stem cell research is having the best results. Nor did he mention the strides made in the use of umbilical and placental stem cells.
If ignorance is bliss, then the editorial writer is one happy man.
