In reference to the Sun Journal article, “Poll: U.S. students should learn both theories of evolution” (Sept. 10), I agree with the majority of the people polled.
When my parents went to school, schools only taught creationism and now schools only teach evolution. I believe that schools should teach both views and allow parents and children to decide what they personally believe.
I also agree with the intelligent design movement that sort of fuses creationism and evolution. Intelligent design states that Darwin’s theory does not tell us how life began. The way intelligent design fuses creationism and evolution together is that there was some superior intelligence that created living beings, and living beings have evolved by adapting to the world constantly changing around them.
I think it is confusing for children when their schools are teaching them about evolution, and their parents teach them at their house or at their church about creationism. I also think it is not fair to teach just one belief when many others may hold the opposite belief. Therefore, I believe it is best to present both views in public schools.
