In a recent article, Paul Madore of the Maine Grassroots Coalition was quoted as stating that homosexual discrimination is not only “licit, but obligatory.” When I read the article I could not believe my eyes.
I thank Mr. Madore, for enlightening me. I now realize that intolerance and discrimination are still such large problems in our modern society that I must vote “no” on Question 1 to protect homosexuals’ rights from people such as Madore.
A Bible scholar I am not, but I do believe this (it’s something that I learned in C.C.D., pre-teen years at St. Phillip’s church in Auburn): Jesus is the way, and he would frown upon discrimination against any person, whether by race, religion or sexual preference. Jesus’ message is quite elementary – “love one another” – and it won’t be long before my 18-month-old son understands it.
I wonder how long it will be before Madore understands Jesus’ message?
