Maine, the way life should be. Yes, that was our thought when we came here to retire after vacationing here for 35 years. Not being able to purchase a house on the water, we looked for one close to water, and that is what we found on Crest Avenue in Lisbon.
Everything was just great until last spring when the dam on Mill Street broke and took the water away, along with the fish, beaver, turtles and other wildlife. This body of water also served as a recreation spot for boating, canoeing and fishing in the summer months, and ice skating and snowmobiling in the winter months.
There are many people who use the area who could never afford the luxury of being on the waterfront.
We have turned to the EPA, DEP, the Lisbon town office, town engineer and the owner, Miller Industries, to no avail.
Isn’t there some way to correct the problem?
