Nowadays, good comedy always seems to come with tragedy. We can laugh at some of the words that President George W. Bush makes up, but there is always an undertone of sadness. That sadness comes from the fact that we have a president so inarticulate he makes up words in public speeches.
When I first read the Rev. Doug Taylor’s recent letter to the editor, I laughed. I found the idea of a grown man who finds a fictional teenager threatening to be slightly amusing. I found the fact that there are people on this planet who believe that yoga is evil to be very amusing.
Then again, these ideas are incredibly sad. That there are people in this world who believe yoga is evil.
The reverend is right. We do live in dark times.
