So our legislators think they are worthy of starting the process to overturn term limits?
Are these the legislators who: Gave away our profits from liquor stores and lottery, want to borrow $250 million to balance the budget, and drove our bond ratings to a less favorable rating?
They think they know more than the people of Maine and instituted the governor’s plan for funding for education instead of what the people mandated, which was voted in by a majority.
I am a termed-out town councilor of Mechanic Falls. If I did half of the things mentioned above, I would have been impeached out of office, and rightly so.
Let us not forget why term limits were imposed in the first place. There was a politician from the north who ran the Legislature like an emperor. No bills got through without his OK. The people had enough, so they made term limits to fix that problem.
I don’t think this Legislature has distinguished itself, and it’s a lucky thing for the people of Maine to have term limits in place.
