At a recent Lisbon Board of Selectmen meeting, a controversial zoning change regarding a local small business was on the agenda. The planning board had refused to act on the matter. The planning board is an appointed board. The matter was then referred to the board of selectmen. They, in turn, refused to act on the matter and sent it to be acted on at the next town meeting.
The board of selectmen is an elected board to handle town business. Five selectmen decided not to act on the matter. In my opinion, if they do not have the courage to act on a controversial matter they should all resign. I know they won’t do that.
The voters should remember their action at the next local vote for members of the board of selectmen.
If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
