After the snowstorm of Feb. 10, it took three people three hours to clear my driveway and walkway. I am a disabled veteran, and it is difficult for me to clear snow.

On Feb. 12, city workers had blown snow directly onto my walkway and blocked my front door. There were at least 15 inches of icy snow covering the entire front entrance. I exited by the rear door to shovel the snow but also called the mayor’s office and the city garage to complain.

I left a message requesting that the mayor contact me. I explained what had happened and that, in an emergency, there was a dangerous situation.

I then contacted the city workers and asked why anyone would block an entrance. A supervisor came to my residence to look the situation over. He then grabbed a shovel and assisted me in clearing my sidewalk. For that, I was most appreciative and made it known.

The mayor eventually did return my call, leaving a message. I have tried to talk with him and have left several messages over the past four weeks. He has not called again. I guess he feels the “little people” require no further consideration. I believe it is an example of the mayor not doing his job.

Next time the mayor asks for help, I will give him no consideration.
