Huzzahs to Rex Rhoades for having the integrity to express so eloquently his anger and frustration at the “moral mullahs” (Nov. 7). We share his outrage and frustration at having someone else’s idea of morality forced upon us. This in a nation whose Constitution guarantees separation of church and state.

Rhoades’ articulation of the real immoralities – environmental degradation, restriction of personal liberties, corporate welfare, “chummy Pentagon contracts,” crippling deficits for our children and grandchildren, and damaging changes to Social Security – is a very positive contribution to the credibility of the Sun Journal. This is especially so after the inexplicable endorsement of George W. Bush for what seemed like very lame reasons. It sounded as if the owners of the paper handed down an ultimatum, which overrode anything the editorial board believed in.

Mr. Rhoades may very well have preserved the Sun Journal’s readership.
