I am a season ticket holder and a fan of the Lewiston Maineiacs. I want to say how disappointed I am that we almost lost the team because Lewiston and the owner of Central Maine Civic Center had allowed financial dealings and the delay in improvements to be the issue.
In my opinion, Lewiston, having invested $2 million in a project to improve a landmark building, which had up to then been neglected, should have taken steps to ensure that improvements were completed on time and within the estimates of construction.
The Maineiacs have brought, at times, thousands of residents from Lewiston-Auburn and the surrounding areas to a sporting event. When was the last time that happened? Week after week, game after game, faithful fans have stepped up to the plate.
As a local newspaper, the Sun Journal has been less than informative in reporting the games and promoting excitement to this new venture.
At the start of this hockey season, your reporting was less than adequate. I had to dig deep into your sports section to find the out-of-town scores.
You have made this controversial issue front-page stories for the past two weeks. I do hope that your reporting in the future will be of a more informative and positive nature to promote public interest.
