A Nov. 21 article, with Dr. R. Weiss of Androscoggin Cardiology Associates attacking Central Maine Medical Center for refusing to share their fairly new cardiac medical center, needs to be dealt with once and for all.

“For all” means for the victims or patients who are told by their doctors to go to a particular hospital, such as Portland’s Maine Medical Center.

We have two “sister hospitals” in Lewiston that have been “feuding” with one another for years, unwilling to share the profits. Lobbyists and CEOs are forming groups with HMOs, doctors and hospitals and putting profits ahead of patient care when it comes to patient choices.

HMOs work out deals with a particular hospital and form groups with doctors and dictate to us how to deal with the insurance company. We are penalized if we don’t abide by the rules. So what happens is the doctor gets an extra bonus in his pocket and the HMOs profit.

Once again, as always, we see greed and profits go to the well-to-do. Why not take the drug companies out of the “stock market” period.

Politicians should focus more on our behalf for a change and not take handouts from the guilty lobbyists.
