John Kerry has picked John Edwards as his vice president in the upcoming presidential election. If the Democrats want a liberal ticket, they now have one. Kerry is ranked No. 1 liberal and Edwards is ranked No. 4 in the U.S. Senate in a 2003 ranking. There were other choices that Kerry could have made. Dick Gephardt would have been a better vice presidential candidate. I don’t believe that Edwards will help the ticket in the South. He was only elected to the Senate in 1998 by a 4 percent margin in North Carolina.

Does anyone remember Edwards saying near the end of the primaries that he was not running for, nor would accept, the nomination for vice president if asked? Some would say he just changed his mind. I would say that he lied. May the best party win in November.
