I read about the little boy lost in the woods in New Hampshire and when found, he was dead.

Now, this thought came to my mind. A yellow highlight pen with a felt tip, give it to a small child and teach it to place a mark every 10 feet. Since children can’t measure, let them count their steps. They could place the mark either on a tree bottom where they can reach it, or even on a rock in the path, so he or she can find the way back or those who look for the child can find him or her easily.

Yellow is a favorite color of most children the world over, and it is bright and won’t blend in with the bark of a tree or rock.

I don’t think it is harmful, but a jackknife could easily hurt a small child. This should been taught to every child to use. Then we would not have tears and pains for a lost little one.
