I have been riding motorcycles for over 50 years. During this time, I feel my riding skills are adequate to judge the road conditions and traffic flow to enjoy the highways and beautiful scenery this area has to offer.

This is all fine if some other driver does not invade your space.

On July 11, a clear sunny morning, my wife and I decided to ride out for breakfast. On our return ride home, a driver came through a stop sign and hit us broadside.

We were in the hospital for five days and are still recuperating from fractures, black and blue bruises, and aches and pains.

I feel strongly that our survival is that the helmets and upper leathers we were wearing saved our lives.

The Harley Elec Glide is a total loss. If one reader sees this article and if riding, chooses to wear a helmet, it may save his or her life.
