Most people in the higher brackets of income in Maine truly believe in the old cliché, “Keep Maine Green.”
They don’t want anyone or anything to change their own personal way of life. Lock up all the land you can in order to stop or control the influx of developing companies. Make sure the tax structures are geared high and unattainable so that companies can ill afford to do business in this state.
Do to this lack of business opportunities, our young, educated people have to move out of state. What does this mean? We live in one of the highest taxed states in the country. Job opportunities are limited, and the working wages are low.
It is incomprehensible to me why a state that is so hard strapped for money looks upon a casino as a negative entity.
If they think that gambling will induce addiction, then why did the state initiate a lottery, scratch tickets, bingo parlors, horse racing and also wants to expand liquor stores throughout the state? I guess none of these are addictive.
The number of people living in poverty is growing because of the lack of good jobs. The state leadership has not done its job.
If you want things to stay as is, just vote “no” on the Casino. Throw away an opportunity of a lifetime. Continue to keep Maine very green and undeveloped so that only the people who can afford it can enjoy it.
