I am really appalled at how the Sun Journal can get away with writing an article (Aug. 29) about how to avoid a ticket for speeding.
After all of the fatalities that occurred this summer, let alone this year, due to speed. One would think that the article would be to try to discourage speeding, frown upon it and not encourage it.
The article informed the youths, drunken drivers and other licensed drivers of the Twin Cities to go ahead and drag race because the police radars can’t distinguish between two vehicles traveling at such close proximity. As well as to go ahead and speed when it is dark, since they have a hard time estimating speeders then and don’t use the radar at night.
Everyone who read this article saw the half-page spread on tips for speeders, like slow down when you see a cop, be polite and watch for flashing headlights. The article goes on to say that if you find yourself unlucky enough to receive a ticket, look for errors, stake out the court and watch another hearing, change the date in hopes that the officer won’t be able to make it and, most of all, contest the ticket because in the end you will probably get a smaller fine.
A lot to remember? Why not just one thing: Don’t speed.
My one final question, is the next article going to be domestic violence or murder: tips for those who are prone to them?
