Albert Smith, candidate for sheriff, has come up with ideas that have saved tax dollars in the past. I know he’ll do so again, once he is managing the department. They’re common sense ideas such as turning vehicles off when there is no reason for them to be running. Considering the cost of gas, I know that’s what I do with my vehicle.

I’ve talked to him and know he sees service to the community as something broader than catching bad guys.

The cost of crime is an enormous burden on taxpayers. We can barely afford essential costs. We can’t afford waste.

With our depressed economy, our elected decision makers must be people able to squeeze 15 cents out of every dime. Every cent that is diverted from ambulances at the bottom of the cliff is money communities can use for a fence at the top.
