Aug. 29 was a very special day for the community of Sabattus. A school that has been needed and extensively worked toward by staff and parents was finally opened to the public for the first time. The school, off Route 9 on Ballpark Road, is a beautiful facility housing grades 3-8.

When I, a veteran teacher who worked in Sabattus from 1981-1999, visited the new Sabattus Central School, I realized what a special time this is for the children of Sabattus. Children from other surrounding communities would love to have a new gym, library, classrooms and ballfields. How lucky the children at the new school are.

Congratulations to the citizens and all concerned for the realization of so wonderful a dream. I hope residents appreciate their gift.
