I was very upset when I read about the Multi-Racial Coalition asking the city of Lewiston for action to help the poor on Jan. 20.

The city of Lewiston has done more for the poor than any city or town in Maine. We have always applied for every federal program to help the poor. The city considers the poor its greatest asset. This is why we have Blake Street Towers, Meadow View, Rosedale Acres, Pleasant View Acres and many other private programs that subsidize the poor. This is also why we attract low income residents to Lewiston, including the professional poor.

People from out of town should mind their own business or go to their town officials and ask them to apply for these programs to help the disadvantaged. We will gladly share with them some of our poor.
