Old-timers (like myself) of Quebecois origin will immediately recognize the mysterious beast killed recently in Turner as a loup garou (a werewolf).
Now, these critters roam the Quebec countryside at will, but are rarely seen.
As a child, my maternal grandfather described them to me as weighing about 50 pounds, gray and looking only somewhat like a dog. The high-pitched, chilling scream and glowing eyes are also a perfect match for what was described to me, and what is described in literature. I’ve heard them at night in Canada.
It’s unfortunate that the carcass wasn’t saved and frozen so that it could have been positively identified.
