For 2004, the Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai’s best-selling model in the U.S., receives a major exterior styling change with a new hood, new grille, new front and rear bumpers, new headlamp design, new decklid and a new taillight design. Elantra buyers will also have a choice of five new paint colors for 2004. Interior enhancements include new interior colors and fabrics.

Three models are available: GLS 4-door sedan, GT 4-door sedan and GT 5-door. Standard equipment on the GLS for 2004 includes air conditioning, front airbags, side-impact airbags, power windows, door locks and mirrors, AM/FM stereo with cassette player, tilt steering column, rear window defroster, keyless remote entry with alarm system (new for 2004) and more.

The Elantra GT models come with everything the GLS delivers and adds rear disc brakes, leather seating surfaces, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, sport-tuned steering and suspension, 15-inch alloy wheels fitted with Michelin tires, cruise control, fog lamps, body-color rear lip spoiler and carpeted floor mats, purple instrument lighting and a Kenwood CD/MP3 audio system (new for 2004).

The Elantra’s proven 2.0-liter DOHC engine is fitted with CVVT variable valve timing for 2004.
