SUMNER – With a commitment to hustle and defense, Buckfield Gray knocked off previously undefeated Buckfield Maroon 23-19 on Friday night at Hartford-Sumner Elementary Gym.

Gray blitzed Maroon and jumped out to an early double digit lead before holding off a late rally. Jesse Warren played stifling defense and led a balanced attack with six points. Tyler Vallee (five points), Ashley Campbell (four), Bethany Elsman (four), Brianna Damon (two), and Brynn Vayda (two) rounded out the scoring. Alexis Bennett, Alyssa Therriault, and Anna Warren contributed on defense. Jared Eastman and Gerry Gagne led Maroon with nine and eight, respectively. Calvin Downey added the only other bucket for Maroon. Erin Eastman played well on defense.

In the first game, Buckfield Blue outlasted Buckfield Green 24-15. Playing spirited basketball on both ends for Blue were Payton Lowell, Jacob Anderson, and Lauren Henderson. Ben Strout, Aaron Rowe, Bryan Chabe, Kari Narumenti, and Amber Arsenault led the effort for Team Green.
