LEWISTON – Lisbon St. Getty Mart picked up its first victory of the season in Lewiston FLY football with a hard-fought 8-0 win over Twins Variety Sr. Giants.
Jeffrey Clark led the Redskins, scoring the only touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter.
Joey Gonzalez added the two-point conversion, catching a pass from Chad Hinkley.
Pitching in defensively to notch the shutout were Lily Fundis, Sabin Lavorgna, William Adams and Brendan Duguay.
Quintarian Brown and Ryan Bell sparked the Giants.
In other senior action, Grover State Farm Sr. Lions suffered their first loss of the season, 19-0, at the hands of DRL Flooring Sr. Steelers.
Dakota Withee and Nathan Mercier led the Lions. Josh Thomas and Matt Snyder paced the victorious Steelers.
Don Morin Photo Jr. Lions downed B&B Flooring Jr. Steelers, 7-0. Darius Phillips and Isaac Cote led the Lions’ balanced running game behind the offensive line of Josh Kobel, Michaela Saucier, Peter Flaherty and Colby Bilodeau. Julian Raines scored the lone TD. Tyler Cote, Jared Rubin and Nickolas Harnden led the Lions’ defense.
Desmond Jackson punched his extra-point attempt through the uprights and also intercepted a pass. Isaac Escobar and Tyler Marquis led the Steelers.
Northeast Athletics Jr. Redskins downed Grimmel’s Gas-Up Jr. Giants, 13-0, behind two TDs by Jason Gonzalez.
Colby Desjardins and Christian Fowler also led the Redskins’ offense, while Chad Dumais and Abram Collette were top defenders.
The Giants got a big game from Ethan Hoffay and Alec Morin.
Auburn Firefighters Grade 5-6 team rolling
AUBURN – The Auburn Firefighters Grade 5-6 football team is off to an explosive start through two games.
In the opener, Firefighters defeated Gee & Bee Sporting Goods, 28-8.
Cam Nadeau rambled 55 yards on the first play of the game.
Ian Milekis scored on two long runs, and receiver C.J. Jipson capped the scoring on a reverse. Jack Coyne, Quinn Bradley and Drew Lashua led the defense.
Demetrius Rodriguez scored on a 65 yard run for Gee and Bee.
Matt Berube, Ethan Nadeau and Tyler County headlined the Gee & Bee defense.
Milekis was the leading tackler in the Firefighters’ second game. He also scored a touchdown on the ground and had a 30-yard TD pass to Jipson.
Jipson also had a rushing touchdown, and Nadeau added a touchdown on the ground. Coyne, Matt Verrill and Isaac Lapointe highlighted the defense.
