RUMFORD – The Sassi Memorial Nordic Ski Race was held recently at Black Mountain of Maine under unseasonably warm weather. Volunteers from the Chisholm Ski Club, as well as spectators, worked throughout the event patching areas of the course where the snow had crumbled.

A total of 175 women and 188 men finished the 5K race. Top finishers: high school women, Lucy Garrec, Freeport, 15:28; Mandy Ivey, Oxford Hills, 15:29.8; Ingrid Knowles, North Yarmouth Academy, 15:31.5; high school men: Stanis Moody-Roberts, Cape Nordic (Cape Elizabeth), 13:45.6; Sam Tarling, Greely, 13:53.8; Colman Hatton, Cape Nordic, 13:57.
