AUBURN – Cody Russell tallied 2 goals and an assist to lead Auburn Youth Hockey Day’s Jewelers Peewee Travelers to a 5-4 comeback victory over Penobscot Valley Hockey Club Saturday. Auburn overcame a 3-0 deficit after 2 periods. The rally started early in the final chapter on a goal by Jordan Haskell. After PVHC made it 4-1, Russell popped 2 goals in a single shift to cut the deficit to 1. Mat Gordon tied the game with 3:30 left, and Dylan Nadeau stole the puck at the blue line and skated in alone to register the game winner with 2:14 showing on the clock. Other assists went to Haskell and Isaac Reed. Goalie Cody Violette made 24 saves.

Auburn’s Rowe Ford Peewees earned 2 victories during the weekend. Auburn blanked Winslow 4-0 as Evan Roy, Josh Prue, Elijah Lamothe and Thomas Greco all netted a goal. Credited with assists were Prue, Roy and Lamothe. . . Rowe also skated past Lewiston Orange Junior Maineiacs 5-1. Greco potted 2 goals. Adding 1 apiece were Lamothe, Cam Bennett and Prue. Assist-makers were Zack Knapp, Ethan Ward, Greco and Lamothe (2). Jacob Lapierre was the winning goalie each time.

Northeast Plastic Surgery Squirts picked up 3 wins in recent action. Auburn topped Gorham Travel 6-3 as Nate Bergeron collected 4 goals. Kara Violette and Ian Durgin also scored, while Matt Berube and Violette both received 2 assists. Mariah Moser was the winning goalie. . . Drew Lupardo and Bergeron both netted 2 goals as Northeast beat Kennebec Travel 5-1. Berube also notched a goal. Assists went to Clay Rowland (2), Ryan Ratsep, Nevin Rand, Zack DeBlois, Violette, Berube and Bergeron. Ian Durgin won his debut in net. . . Auburn edged Brewer Travel 6-5 as Lupardo and Bergeron each ripped 2 goals. Rand and DeBlois also scored. Durgin (2), Lupardo (2), Violette, Chris Tarr, Rand and DeBlois all registered assists. Moser tended net.
