AUBURN – E.S.M. and Gipper’s split their first 2 games of the best-of-3 Twin City Championship Series and were set to play the deciding contest last night at Pettengill.
E.S.M., the Auburn champ, opened with a 20-13 victory Tuesday at Pettengill. Dan Brown walloped a grand-slam homer and Mike Reid and Brian Chase also blasted round-trippers. Mike Campbell and Chase both went 3-3. Kyle Winter collected 3 hits, including a homer, for the Lewiston champs. Mike Gooling also clouted a home run.
Gipper’s got even Wednesday at its home field at Randall Road, winning 5-2. Winter and Mike Pomerleau both homered. Mike Gazza belted a homer for E.S.M.

AUBURN – Wednesday’s playoff scores: Able Power 5, Meineke Muffler 4; K&K Construction 16, Major Automotive 10; Ball Busters 13, Lincoln Street Radiator 3; CarQuest Auto over Bulldogs. Three more games were slated last night, Melanson vs K&K; Bulldogs vs Able; and Lincoln Street Radiator vs winner Melanson-K&K. Only 4 teams will be left when the playoffs resume Monday at Pettengill. One of those games will have Ball Busters meeting CarQuest in a battle of lone unbeatens at 6:00.
