LEWISTON – USA Hockey will conduct a day-long seminar for referees on Sunday, Sept. 12 at Lewiston High School, beginning at 9 a.m.

State instructors will train new ice hockey officials and refresh current refs about the many apsects of being a referee. This seminar is a prerequisite to certification by USA Hockey, the governing body of most youth hockey games. More than 26,000 officials are registered nationwide.

A parent or guardian must accompany new officials under 18 for the first hour. Skates and a helmet are required for all.

Other similar seminars are planned as follows: Sept. 25, King Middle School, Portland; Oct. 3, William Cohen Center, Hallowell; Oct. 9, Houlton Ice Arena (10 a.m.); Oct. 10, Brewer High School.
