LEWISTON – Add a couple more deals to the docket for the Lewiston Maineiacs, this according to sources close to the team.

With the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s annual draft just one day away, the Maineiacs appear poised to make one of the bigger splashes during the short trading period which accompanies the session, with at least four deals on the table.

“We’re going to be active, that’s for sure,” Lewiston president and head coach Don MacAdam said.

MacAdam and general manager Roger Shannon would not comment specifically on any of the rumored deals until paperwork had been filed with the league. According to MacAdam, once paperwork is submitted and any deals made official, they will be posted to the QMJHL Web site.

“We have a master plan,” Shannon said. “Everything we do is part of a plan, and we need to stick to it.”

New to the rumor mill, and confirmed by a source close to the team, are a pair of draft-weekend deals involving mostly draft picks.

In one deal, the Maineiacs appear set to send their European draft selection (No. 7 overall) to the Moncton Wildcats. In return, Moncton will send its European pick and a third-, fourth- and seventh-rounder in this weekend’s draft to Lewiston.

MacAdam is already on the record saying he is looking to deal the Import Draft selection, given the team’s financial situation and the amount of money it takes to secure a high end European player.

In a related trade, the Maineiacs and the Acadie-Bathurst Titan reportedly have a deal set that would have Lewiston sending to Bathurst forward Travis Moore, a third-rounder, a fourth-rounder and a sixth-rounder. In return, the Maineiacs would receive Stefan Fournier, a 6-foot-2, 17-year forward with a left shot. In 40 games with the Titan last season, Fournier had two goals and an assist.

The sixth-round pick would return to Lewiston should Moore suit up and play for the Titan this season.

In deals already all but officially confirmed, the Maineiacs will be a part of one of the bigger deals of the weekend, sending goalie Peter Delmas, defenseman Patrick Cusack and forwards Danick Paquette and Dominic Savoie to Quebec for Sebastien Trudeau, Samuel Carrier, a first-round pick and a third-round pick. In that deal, the teams are also reportedly swapping 2010 European draft selections.

In a fourth deal, Garrett Clarke will likely head to Halifax. Coming back to Lewiston would be centerman Alexis Piette and a seventh-round pick at the draft.

The QMJHL draft is set for Saturday morning at 9 a.m. The trade window closes at the end of the draft.
