TOPSHAM – Kayla Cummings belted an RBI single in the first and made a fine sacrifice bunt in the third as Edward Little closed out its regular season with a 2-0 victory over Mt. Ararat Wednesday in their KVAC softball regular-season finale.
Alyssa Levesque struck out six batters and scattered three hits for the Eddies (11-5) to notch the win.
Brooke Graffam led Mt. Ararat (7-9) with two of their three hits.
St. Dom’s 9, Poland 0
AUBURN – Lindsey Nance hurled seven innings of one-hit ball Wednesday as St. Dom’s coasted to a 9-0 rout over Poland in a WMC softball matchup.
Mary Caron led the Saints (10-5) with a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Heidi Nadeau also contributed with three hits and three RBIs, while Mary Lewis had two hits. St. Dom’s sprinted out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and was never challenged.
Fryeburg 2, Sacopee 0
FRYEBURG – Hannah Hill just missed pitching a perfect game, so she settled for a no-hitter, as Fryeburg Academy shut down Sacopee (8-8) with a 2-0 victory in a softball game Wednesday.
Hill struck out 13 batters and walked only one.
The Raiders (15-1) scored a run in the second and fifth innings and held that 2-0 lead thanks to Hill’s pitching. Brylie Walker hit a one-run double in the second inning and Tanya Randall smacked another one-run double in the fifth.
Baseball
Mt. Ararat 12, Edward Little 8
AUBURN – Scott Rogers smashed a three-run home run in the fourth inning to propel Mt. Ararat to a 12-8 victory over Edward Little in a KVAC regular season finale Wednesday.
The Red Eddies (12-4) jumped out to a 3-1 advantage in the first frame before the Eagles (10-6) erupted for six runs in the fourth. Tim Bickford belted two hits with two RBIs for Mt. Ararat as they earned their eighth consecutive win.
Devin Flynn and Josh Maines led Edward Little at the plate, combining for six hits and five runs scored. Edward Little utilized five pitchers trying to stop the bleeding, with reliever Kenzie Souders suffering the loss.
Boys’ lacrosse
Greely 12, St. Dom’s 10
AUBURN – Greely turned up the pressure in the second half to wear down St. Dom’s and escape with a 12-10 boys’ lacrosse victory in the regular-season finale.
The Saints (8-4) had built a 9-3 advantage by halftime before wilting under Greely’s 48-shot attack.
Trevar Haefele and Tim Day led St. Dom’s with three goals apiece. Ryan Lussier, Ben Adams, Matt Adams and Troy Haefele also scored goals for the Saints. Cody Rodrigue stopped 29 shots in goal.
Michael Tuller led Greely (6-6) with three goals, while Ted Russell, Austin Spencer and Cooper Allen added two goals apiece.
