TURNER – Leavitt erupted with three runs thanks to a Kassara Varney’s two-run triple in the fifth inning as Leavitt slipped away with a 7-6 victory over Nokomis in a softball game Tuesday.
The Hornets (6-1) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, but Nokomis (3-12) came right back with six runs in the third and fifth innings.
Leavitt used a 13-hit attack to subdue Nokomis. Abbey Randall, Kristy Buzzell and Varney all hit triples. Catcher Tori Zupancic and Varney each had three hits. For Nokomis, Autumn Silke had three hits.
Telstar 15, Lisbon 2
LISBON – The Telstar softball squad erupted for 10 runs in the first inning and went on to record a 15-2 rout over Lisbon in a softball matchup Tuesday.
Whitney Mills, T.J. Cowin and Hannah Morin led the Rebels (15-1) with three hits each. Hannah Morin also contributed for Telstar with a double. Candace Hall gave up just two hits, struck out five and walked three to earn the victory.
The Greyhounds’ (3-11) Crystal Ingerson handled pitching duties and suffered the loss.
Skowhegan 7, Lewiston 0
LEWISTON – Becca McCarty scattered three hits and drew ample run support as Skowhegan coasted to a 7-0 victory over Lewiston in a late-season KVAC softball tilt Tuesday.
Whitney Jones led the Indians (15-1) when she smashed a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Jones finished with two hits, while Amanda Johnson also belted a pair of hits.
Tamara Roy led the Blue Devils (1-14) with two hits, while Patricia DeFosse suffered the loss.
Georges Valley 7, Mt. Abram 0
THOMASTON – Danielle Frye struck out 10 batters in seven innings and drew adequate run support as Georges Valley hustled to a 7-0 victory over Mt. Abram in a MVC tilt Tuesday.
Frye also helped her own cause at the plate with three hits, while catcher Jesse Veilleux belted out two hits. Georges Valley jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the first frame and was never challenged.
Molly McCafferty walked two batters for Mt. Abram (9-6) while enduring the loss.
Oak Hill 15, Lincoln Academy 3
WALES – Lauren Hall scattered three hits in five innings as Oak Hill rolled to a 15-3 romp over Lincoln Academy.
Sarah Albert led the Raiders (9-7) with three hits and four RBIs, while Taylor Fillion belted two hits and drove in two runs.
Hall and Katie Wood also contributed with a pair of hits. Becca Belaire also got into the act with two hits and one RBI.
Amelia Pennington went the distance for Lincoln and suffered the loss.
Oxford Hills 3, Hampden 1
SOUTH PARIS – Mindy Rugg and Mariah Martin each tripled, and winning pitcher Kristy Jurczak struck out 11 batters and threw a two-hitter as Oxford Hills dropped Hampden with a 3-1 win in a softball game Tuesday.
The Vikings (13-3) built a quick 2-0 lead after three innings. Breanne Martin doubled and Brooke Ladd had two hits.
Monmouth 5, Winthrop 1
MONMOUTH – Winning pitcher Reen Kahl struck out eight batters and she also tripled as Monmouth (9-5) marched past Winthrop, 5-1, in a softball game Wednesday.
The Mustangs rang up four runs after just one inning and added one more in the fifth inning.
