FARMINGTON – Devin Zamboni ended an 11-inning battle after chipping away a two-run double to give Mt. Blue a 9-8 victory over Hampden Wednesday.

The game was tied 4-4 going into the 11th inning. Hampden’s Fred Knight started off the top of the 11th, getting to first on an error before Alex Cust was walked. Nolan Turner hit a triple bringing both Knight and Cust home. Turner then scored on a passed-ball. Shawn Smith smacked a triple immediately following, then also scored on a passed-ball giving Hampden the 8-4 lead.

Mt. Blue came up, and after two quick outs, saw a double hit by Tim Smith.

Dylan Vining brought scored him on a double of his own. Jimmy Neal came to bat next and reached base on an error, before Alec Wallace was intentionally walked. With the bases loaded, pinch hitter Brad Dority singled to score Vining and Neal. Dority was replaced by Chris Reynolds at second before Zamboni smacked the tying and game-winning runs.

Buckfield 13, Windham Christian 1

WINDHAM – Tyler Weymouth and Brian Litchfield combined for six innings of three-hit baseball and drew ample run support as Buckfield rolled over Windham Christian in EWC action Wednesday.

Alan Hendrick led a group of five players with multiple hits for the Bucks (1-4), including Weymouth, Litchfield, Tony Fortier and Casey Robertson. Buckfield jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first frame and was never challenged.

Randy Pratt worked the first three innings for Windham Christian and suffered the loss.

Gardiner 11, Oak Hill 1

WALES – Donnie Cray scattered three hits and struck out 10 as Gardiner rolled to a 11-1 victory over Oak Hill in a KVAC baseball tilt Wednesday.

Forest Chadwick and Carl Witham combined for four hits and two RBIs for Gardiner (7-2). The Tigers plated several runs through walks by Oak Hill (4-4) pitchers.

Joey Morneault led the Raiders with a pair of hits and one RBI. Josh Sirois suffered the loss after working the first two frames. Craig Morrill scored the lone run for Oak Hill on Joey Morneault’s fourth-inning double.

Dirigo 14, Carrabec 4

DIXFIELD – Josh Palmer and Eric Fenstermacher combined to scatter six hits in five innings as Dirigo rolled to a 14-4 victory over Carrabec in MVC baseball action Wednesday.

Palmer made his first career varsity start. Tyler Chiasson and James Moulton combined for four RBIs, while Tyler Gates and Ryan Lafleur each added two hits and one RBI in a well-balanced attack. Eric Bolduc also contributed with three RBIs.

Zack Bowie led the Cobras (0-8) with two hits on the day.

EL 7, Morse 2

BATH – Shane Ciriello scattered five hits and fanned nine batters in a commanding pitching effort as Edward Little beat Morse 7-2 in baseball Wednesday. Ciriello helped his own cause with an RBI double.

Ryan Arnold went 3-for-4 on the day with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Matt Gordon contributed with a pair of base hits.

Bill Nygaard belted out a two-run homer in the third inning, bring home Shane Walton, who had doubled to get on base for the Shipbuilders (0-9).

Hall-Dale 11, Mt. Abram 3

FARMINGDALE – Hall-Dale exploded for six unearned runs in the first inning which helped them eventually record an 11-3 triumph over Mt. Abram.

Dylan Dupont earned the win, fanning nine batters in five innings. He helped his own cause with two hits, while Jim McCullun had an RBI double in the win.

Mt. Abram struggled to fight back after that first inning. Hank Poulin smacked a double for the losing cause, while Mike Bonney finished the game with a pair of base hits.

Jay 5, Monmouth 1

MONMOUTH – David Hobson singled and doubled, and winning pitcher Kyle Storer struck out six batters and gave up three walks, as Jay waltzed past Monmouth (2-6) with a 5-1 victory in a baseball game Wednesday.

The Tigers (2-7) hammered out four runs in the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie. Jay’s Jarrod Ouellette and Billy Calden each had two singles. Monmouth’s David Hobson doubled and singled.

The Mustangs outhit the Tigers, 6-5 and each team made four errors.

G-NG 7, Greely 6

GRAY – Taylor Valente settled down after giving up four runs in the fourth inning and throwing 40 pitches to help guide Gray-New Gloucester (5-6) to a narrow 7-6 victory over Greely (8-2) in a baseball game Wednesday.

And when Valente took control, the Patriots’ bats came to life in the first three innings, allowing G-NG to take a 7-6 lead that held for two innings.

Valente struck out five batters and gave up seven hits. G-NG’s Owen Chaplan and Cody Humphrey each had two hits.

For the Rangers, catcher Ryan Howland drove in five runs and smacked a two-run double and triple.

Lisbon 8, Madison 6

MADISON – Marcus Bubar had a pair of hits, scored two runs and had an RBI, while Mat Hardison also had two hits, scored one run, and recorded an RBI as Lisbon slipped past Madison 8-6 in more local baseball action.

Nick Jones, Frank Angelico, and Alex Hall each had an RBI a piece for the Greyhounds (5-3).

Madison (2-6) was paced by Justen Grant with three hits and three runs scored.

St. Dom’s 11, OOB 5

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Ben Randall hit a two-run double and a pair of base hits to lead the St. Dom’s offensive attack over Old Orchard Beach 11-5 in an WMC matchup.

Greg Labonte earned the win with five Ks and also had two RBIs in his own cause. Casey and Alex Parker each had two hits a piece for the undefeated Saints (8-0).

Brandon Ouellette hit a double that brought in two runs in the fifth inning, while Evan Bujnowaki and Jon Regis had each had a pair of base hits for the Seagulls (3-5).

Oxford Hills 19, Brunswick 2

BRUNSWICK – Tucker Hill scattered three hits in seven innings and drew ample run support as Oxford Hills rolled over Brunswick, 19-2, in more KVAC softball action.

Cody Hadley and DJ Croy led the Vikings (4-5) with two hits each, while Croy plated a pair of runs. Andrew Keniston also contributed with three RBIs, while Matt Verrier drove in two runs.

Kevin Wilson drove in both runs for the Dragons (7-2) in the fourth inning.

Lacrosse

Gould 21, Hebron 10

BETHEL – Gould stormed past Hebron in 21-10 win in an MAISAD semifinal lacrosse game held Wednesday afternoon. Gould played a strong offensive game, outshooting Hebron 38-15.

Kyle McGregor made five saves for the Huskies win.

For the Hebron effort, Eric Banash and Cory O’Brien each had three goals a piece.
