PHILADELPHIA – Maine Racewalkers did it again this weekend.

Abby Dunn of Auburn, a student at Edward Little High School, earned top honors in the junior division at the Penn Relays on Saturday, navigating the 5-kilometer course in 27:07.41, less than seven seconds faster than Amy Cheung of Washingtonville.

The event was Dunn’s first attempt at 5,000 meters.

Fellow EL athlete Christie Bernier placed sixth in that same event, finishing in 28:45.77, and Lewiston’s Nicole Court-Menendez placed seventh in 29:07.81. It was also Menendez’ first race at that distance.

Lauren Forgues, a graduate of Boothbay Regional High School, finished second overall in the open racewalking event, finishing the course in 25:34.55, two minutes back of Olympian Joanne Dow.
