Carl R. Bonney
1931 – 2009
WOODSTOCK – Carl Raymond Bonney, 78, of Woodstock, died at his residence on July 17.
He was born in Sumner on Jan. 26, 1931, the son of the late Owen and Gladys (Buck) Bonney and was educated in local schools and received his GED at the age of 70. Carl had worked as a woodsman all of his life. He enjoyed fishing and reading and especially enjoyed building furniture for his family and friends. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a very important part of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alliene (Morgan) Bonney of Woodstock; two sons, Larry Bonney and his wife, Elsie, of Bethel and Josh Bonney of Woodstock; two daughters, Kathy Scherf and her husband, Robert, of Woodstock and Julie Cummings and her husband, Michael, of Woodstock; one brother, William Bonney of Kentucky; two sisters, Barbara Knightly and Margaret Stevens, both of South Paris; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; three sons, Christopher, Russell and Raymond Bonney; five brothers, Hubert, Corey, Merton, Owen Jr. and Arthur; and one sister, Joan Qualey.
