AUBURN – Kaleb Daigneault and John Collette had fine performances on defense for Lewiston as the Blue Devils secured a 5-3 victory over Edward Little in KVAC boys’ lacrosse action Friday.

The Blue Devils (8-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter and led 5-1 before the conclusion of the third frame.

Tim Brodsky recorded a goal and an assist for the Red Eddies (2-7).

Goalie Alex Pare made 11 save for Lewiston, while netminder Dereck Racine turned away 18 shots for Edward Little.

Gardiner 7, Mountain Valley 6

RUMFORD -Joe Fish scored in the second overtime to lift Gardiner to a 7-6 victory over Mountain Valley.

Steve Smith of Mountain Valley scored the tying goal with 1:30 to play in regulation to send the game into overtime.

Tyler White scored twice for the Falcons (0-9). Matt Mowatt, Josh Allen and Myles Mercier also scored. Fish and Jake Achinson scored two each for Gardiner (5-5).

Baseball

EL 13, Leavitt 2

AUBURN – Matt Gordon had a solid performance on the mount, striking out nine batters in five innings to secure a 13-2 Edward Little win over Leavitt in baseball Friday

Kyle Buissere had three hits, three RBIs, and three runs scored for the Eddies (8-5), while Corey Larue chipped in with a pair of hits and Adam Lutz contributed three runs.

Steven Rouillard scored both of the Hornets’ (1-12) runs and also stole four bases. Matt Paladino smacked an RBI double in the effort.

Rangeley 13, Valley 6

BINGHAM – Andrew Terelesky hit a two-run double as Rangeley beat Valley 13-6 in baseball Friday.

David Raymond, Zack Abbott, Nik Bliss, and Ross Gordon all hit doubles for the Lakers (6-3).

Waterville 8, Oak Hill 7

WALES – Kyle Bishop scored the game-winning run in the eighth inning off a sacrifice fly by Curt Schaup to push Waterville ahead and give the Panthers an 8-7 win over Oak Hill.

Elie Fitzgerald had a pair of hits and scored a run for Waterville (6-6).

The Raiders (4-7) were paced by Ben Rines with a three-run double, and Nate Jillson, who collected a pair of runs after he doubled.

Jay 7, Georges Valley 4

THOMASTON – The Jay Tigers tallied three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to erase a 4-1 deficit and earn a 7-4 win over Georges Valley on Friday.

Kyle DeMillo smacked a bases-loaded double, while Nick Bourassa and Mike Holland each had a pair of hits a piece for the Tigers (7-5).

Larson Platt ripped a pair of hits and drove in three runs for the Buccanneers (5-7).

Wiscasset 11, Monmouth 3

MONMOUTH – Jim Davis struck out eight batters and earned the win for Wiscasset, as the Redskins defeated Monmouth 11-3 in a baseball matchup.

Zach Hartman and Josh Hopkins each hit RBI doubles for Wiscasset (4-7).

Erik Murphy batted in a run off his double in the fourth for the Monmouth (7-4) effort, while Mack Tozier and Parker Ferland each had a pair of hits.

Telstar 20, Mt. Abram 1

SALEM – Fourteen of Telstars players went up to bat and erupted for 11 runs in the first inning to blow the contest wide open right from the git-go, setting up the Rebels for a 20-1 win over Mt. Abram.

Ryan Hannigan had a two-run double, while Andy Whitney and Kyle Maines each contributed with three hits for the Rebels (4-7).

Danny Visuano had two hits, incluing a double, for the Roadrunners (2-10).

Greely 12, Poland 5

CUMBERLAND – Nate Martin had two hits, two runs and three steals to power Greely to a 12-5 triumph over Poland in WMC baseball action Friday.

The Knights (7-6) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but quickly fell behind the Rangers (8-3), trailing 11-4 after three frames. Greely pitching gave up 14 walks, while the defense gave up eight errors.

Junior second baseman Casey Ray provided a two-run single in the first inning and an RBI producing ground out in the third inning for a team-leading three RBIs in the losing effort.

Lisbon 14, Boothbay 1

BOOTHBAY – Marcus Bubar went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and five RBIs to propel Lisbon to a 14-1 victory over Boothbay in baseball action Friday.

The Greyhounds (9-3) dashed to a 6-0 lead in the second inning. Kyle Neagle, Mike Unterkoefler, Tyler Brown and Frank Agnelico each had a pair of hits.

Angelico recorded a solo home run in the second inning, and collected a double to add three RBIs for Lisbon.

Todd Timberlake had one hit and scored the lone Seahawks’ (1-10) run in the third inning. He was driven in by Steve Lewis to spoil the Lisbon shutout.

Oxford Hills 8, Morse 1

SOUTH PARIS – Justin Frechette smacked two RBI triples to lead Oxford Hills to an 8-1 win over Morse Friday afternoon in baseball action.

Tucker Hill hit an RBI double, while Matt Verrier ended the contest with a pair of hits for the Vikings (6-7). Andrew Kempf doubled for the Shipbuilders (1-12).
