TURNER – Starting pitcher Nick Letourneau blasted a solo homer in the fifth inning as Leavitt recorded a 10-5 triumph over Morse in a KVAC baseball contest.
Steven Rouillard hit a two-run double, and Dan Buzzell added an RBI double for the Hornets (1-6). Letourneau and Rouillard ended the game with three hits apiece. Sophomore relief pitcher David Cleere picked up the win.
For the Shipbuilders (0-7), Nate Elwell had a two-run double in the first inning.
Lawrence 2, Mt. Blue 1
LAWRENCE – Ben Violette singled home John Flynn to record the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Lawrence topped Mt. Blue 2-1.
Flynn scored the first run for Lawrence (2-5), driving home Jack Hersom, who had reached base on a fielder’s choice. For the second run, Flynn opened with a base-on-balls, then stole second before notching the run with help from Violette.
The lone Mt. Blue (1-6) run was tallied after Joe Gilbert and Bobby Duley smacked back-to-back doubles in the first inning, with Gilbert reaching base and Duley driving him home.
Livermore Falls 10, Mt. Abram 0
LIVERMORE FALLS – Zach Keene gave up two hits in six innings as Livermore Falls posted a 10-0 shutout over Mt. Abram.
Kevin Gats led the Andies (5-1) with a solo home run in the third inning, while Josh Tainter and Willie Brown belted two hits apiece. Kyle Stebbins also contributed with a two-run double in the sixth.
Greely 11, Poland 0
POLAND – Winning pitcher Brandon Gallagher ended the day with three hits and two RBIs to help his own cause as Greely shut out Poland 11-0 in five innings Wednesday.
Nate McCray had a two-run double, while Nate Martin hit an RBI double for Greely (5-2). Sam Stauber chipped in with two hits and scored three runs.
Jay 14, Telstar 3
BETHEL – Austin Clark paved the way offensively with three hits and four RBIs as Jay defeated Telstar 14-3 in a six inning MVC contest.
Winning pitcher Shane LeFevre struck out six and walked no one, and hit a double and a triple at the plate for the Tigers (4-2).
Mike Fleet hit an RBI double and Mike Fitzmorris smacked two singles and collected an RBI for Telstar (1-3).
Edward Little 9, Mt. Ararat 3
AUBURN – Mike Muise hurled seven innings of five-hit baseball and got plenty of run support as Edward Little rolled past Mt. Ararat 9-3 in a KVAC baseball matchup Wednesday afternoon.
Eric Prue led the Red Eddies (6-1) with three hits, while Devon Flynn belted two hits and had two RBIs. Cory LaRue smashed a two-run home run for EL in the first inning.
Scott Rogers and Tom Dunn led the Eagles (4-3) with RBI doubles, while Taylor Ross was saddled with the loss.
St. Dom’s 9, Richmond 3
RICHMOND – Ben Randall belted two hits and had two RBIs to propel St. Dom’s to a 9-3 triumph over Richmond.
Randall sparked a six-run seventh inning for the Saints (4-1) that helped seal the victory.
Richmond (6-1) was paced by Walter Miller and Tim Bradford with two hits apiece, while Keith Carter was saddled with the loss.
Oxford Hills 3, Cony 0
AUGUSTA – Marc Chandler hit an RBI double and an RBI single to lead Oxford Hills to a 3-0 victory over Cony.
Ryan Yates earned the win on the mount, and also scored a run after Nigel Cromwell knocked him in to record the third run for the Vikings (4-3). Cody Hadley and Yates each added a double in the game.
Jake LaChance and Charlie Partridge doubled for the Rams (3-2).
Lisbon 11, Carrabec 0
NORTH ANSON – Nick Jones had a strong performance, leading the way both on the mound and at the plate as Lisbon beat Carrabec 11-0 in five innings.
Jones threw four innings and struck out six batters to earn the win, and finished the day 2-3 with two RBIs. Frank Angelico contributed a hit, two RBIs, and two runs scored for the Greyhound (4-1).
Dillon Dall had the lone hit for Carrabec (0-5).
Dirigo 25, Madison 5
MADISON – Jon Smith ended the day with three hits and six RBIs as Dirigo dominated Madison, posting a 25-5 victory in five innings Wednesday.
Dirigo (5-1) capitalized on 14 walks, and played all 19 of its players. Aaron Fenstermacher hit a single for two runs and a sacrifice fly for one, while Tyler Chaisson had two hits and three RBIs on the day.
Josh Daley contributed with a two-run double, as well.
Lacrosse
Lewiston 14, Messalonskee 7
LEWISTON – Ben Landry netted four goals and dished off two assists to lead Lewiston to a 14-7 rout over Messalonskee in KVAC boys’ lacrosse action Wednesday.
Alex Stone, Zack Blauvelt, Nate Rivet and Wesley Myers chipped in for the Blue Devils (4-0) with two goals apiece, while single tallies by Jon Roy and Mason Giroux completed the scoring. Kyle Dussault made seven saves to notch the win.
Messalonskee (2-2) was paced by Trent Leuttich with three goals and an assist, while Chris Pelletier, Matt DelGuidice, Tyler Wrigley and Derric Vigue also tallied. Chris DelGuidice turned aside 11 shots.
Thornton 11, St. Dom’s 8
AUBURN – Paul Dolewa scored three goals and added two assists to propel Thornton to an 11-8 victory over St. Dom’s.
Zack Murray and Jason Culpitts chipped in for the Trojans (4-0) with three goals each. Chris Driscoll and Andrew Mockler combined for 11 saves.
The Saints (1-3) received five goals from Trevor Haefele, while Matt Barlion added two. Cam McKee also scored to round out the final tally. Ben Horton turned aside 16 shots in net for St. Dom’s.
Hebron 12, Hyde 10
BATH – Jimmy Fluke netted three goals as Hebron slipped past Hyde to post a 12-10 win in a boys’ lacrosse.
Hebron (11-3) broke free from a 7-7 tie at the half to earn the win. C.J. Estes added two goals and had four assists, while Malik Garvin and Booby Thoits each added a pair of goals.
Costa Tsitouras, Cory O’Brien, and Luke Hayes all notched a goal apiece.
Mike Box led all players with five goals for Hyde (4-4). Jordan Wilkins notched two.
