Stefano Giliati had a great week, and scored a hat trick Wednesday in a tough loss to Halifax. The three goals gave him 33 on the season, and 78 for his Maineiacs career, leaving him seven goals shy of Mathieu Aubin’s career mark of 85.

Giliati is also closing in on Aubin’s career point total of 190. He has 172 points now, and 16 games left to earn the remaining 18 points to catch Aubin.

Powerless

The Maineiacs have been playing well lately. They were 7-2-1 in their last 10 games going into Saturday night’s contest in PEI.

All that despite their power play, which has slipped to ninth in the league at 18.6 percent.

“Our power play has been awful,” Maineiacs head coach Ed Harding said, citing a lack of puck movement and too much individualistic play as reasons for his team’s slump with the extra skater.

On the other end, though, the maineiacs’ penalty-kill unit has become one of the best in the league, sitting second behind Baie-Comeau at 84.3 percent.
