AUBURN — The Central Maine Community College Corporate and Community Services Department will offer “Effective Writing for Nonprofits” from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 13 and 20. The cost of the class is $92 and includes materials.

Participants will learn how the success of a nonprofit organization often depends on how effectively it communicates its message to the outside world through daily correspondence, effective fundraising letters, promoting events and dealing with the media.

The class will be taught by Ken O’Quinn, a professional writing coach and former journalist, who will take participants through the writing process, from organizing ideas to packaging information to write a clear, concise message.

O’Quinn spent more 21 years in journalism, including 12 years with the Associated Press. He has been a guest speaker at the American Press Institute, and he has presented at the IABC and PRSA international conferences.
