Justin Staires returned a punt and an interception for touchdowns and threw for another score as Mountain Valley began defense of its Class B state title with a 66-0 win over Gray-New Gloucester. Staires’ punt return went for 48 yards and his interception return for 59 yards. He also hooked up with Owen Jones on a 40-yard TD pass. A key all-around performer on last year’s championship team, Stairs ended up with 201 total yards of offense on Friday night.
