BRUNSWICK – Michelle Gott-Stilwell hit a three-point shot at the buzzer to lift Maine Maritime to a 51-49 victory over top-ranked Bowdoin in women’s basketball action Wednesday.
Jill Anelauskas single-handedly kept the Polar Bears (15-1) in contention during the first half, putting 20 points on the board. Julia Knights connected on a jumper right before the break to give the visitors a 27-26 edge at intermission, marking the first time Bowdoin had trailed at halftime this season.
Knights paced Maine Maritime (14-0) with 19 points, while Gott-Stilwell tallied 14 and Alysa Burns added 13. Bowdoin was led by Anelauskas with 24 points overall.
CMCC 57, Eastern Maine 52
BANGOR – Tiffany Seams nailed shot from just outside the circle to lift Central Maine Community College to a 57-52 victory over Eastern Maine in women’s basketball action Wednesday.
Seams led all scorers with 28 points for the Mustangs (6-6), while Jacki Moors chipped in with 13. Central Maine trailed by three at the half, then used a 30-24 run in the second frame to pull into contention. Eastern Maine (4-10) was paced by Heather Groder with a 22-point performance, while Shannon Dobbins contributed with 13.

CMCC 93, Eastern Maine 78
BANGOR – Kaleb Violette poured in a game-high 35 points Wednesday to lead Central Maine Community College to a 93-78 victory over Eastern Maine in men’s basketball
Jon Gilson chipped in for the Mustangs (10-7) with 23 points, while Dave Labonte added 20. Central Maine jumped out to a 43-38 advantage in the first half and was never challenged.
Josh Madden paced Eastern Maine (4-8) with a 25-point performance, while Nick Carey added 11.
Boys’ basketball
Morse 48, Oxford Hills 39
SOUTH PARIS – Morse rallied from a five-point halftime deficit and held Oxford Hills to four points in the fourth quarter of a 48-39 KVAC boys’ basketball victory Wednesday night.
Ryan Chaney led Morse (3-8) with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Nate Cloutier chipped in 12 points for the Shipbuilders, who transformed a 24-19 deficit at the break into a 36-35 lead with eight minutes to go.
Brandon Moffett chalked up 14 points and Ben Goodall tallied 10 for the Vikings (5-7).
Hockey
Hebron 3, Pingree 2
SOUTH HAMILTON, Mass. – Matt St. Pierre scored with 33 seconds remaining in overtime, hoisting Hebron Academy to a 3-2 prep hockey victory over Pingree School.
Carmine Zegarelli tied the game in the final three minutes of regulation on an assist from Sasha Romanenko. Josh Taylor and Matt Pedemonti assisted the game-winner for the Lumberjacks (13-5). Pedemonti also scored Hebron’s first goal of the game, assisted by St. Pierre and Romanenko.
Girls’ basketball
Richmond 30. Hebron 16
HEBRON – Mel Schanck scored 13 points to lead Richmond past Hebron, 30-16, in a clash of two high-ranking Western Class D girls’ basketball teams.
Kainani Stevens and Kayla Hemphill each scored five points for Hebron (5-2). Richmond (6-5) maintained the lead throughout and didn’t allow Hebron to exceed five points in any quarter. Stephanie O’Brien added six points for the Bobcats.
