OXFORD – Ben Tinker captured his first Allen’s Strictly Stock feature victory of the season Friday night at Oxford Plains Speedway, providing the lone highlight in an otherwise wet afternoon and evening.

Heavy thunderstorms arrived at 4 p.m. on the first day of TD Banknorth 250 practice, and the scheduled 6:30 p.m. start of Call of the Wild Night was delayed nearly two hours.

Scheduled for 30 laps, the Allen’s Strictly Stocks made it just one lap past the halfway point before intermittent showers returned. With no hope of getting the track dry and then competing five features at a reasonable hour, OPS president Bill Ryan called a halt to the proceedings at 9:30.

The Strictly sprint was declared official, with Tinker, the fourth different leader of the event, earning the victor. Mike Short finished second, followed by Phil Mitchell III, Wal-Mart Rookie of the Year point leader Justin Karkos and Chris Coolidge.

Limited Sportsman, Allen’s Mini Stock and Agren Appliance Late Model Stock events were postponed along with the second visit of the season by the Pro All Stars Series Modified division.
