SALEM – Nat Smith hit a two-run triple in the first to bring home starting pitcher Jordan Norton and Brandon Wheeler as Mt. Abram defeated Monmouth 6-5 in an MVC baseball match up Friday.
Wheeler had two hits for Mt. Abram (4-2) and Norton picked up the win on the mound.
Ben Seefeldt had two hits and two RBIs for Monmouth (3-2).
Mt. Ararat 6, EL 3
TOPSHAM – Tristan French had a pair of RBIs, and the Eagles broke open the game on a pair of errors in the fourth inning as Mt. Ararat topped Edward Little 6-3 in baseball Friday afternoon.
Brandon Wyman allowed only three hits in the game for the victory (1-1), and catcher Nick Cloutier smacked an RBI triple for Mt. Ararat (5-2). The Eagles also scored on a suicide squeeze in the fifth.
The Eddies tied the game at 3-3 in the third inning with a homer from Matt Meserve and a double by Chris Merrill. Adam Redmun was tagged with the loss for Edward Little (4-3).
Dirigo 3, Georges Valley 2
DIXFIELD – Spencer Berry and Gary Holman ripped RBI doubles in the third inning to help Dirigo earn a 3-2 victory over Georges Valley in boys’ baseball action Friday.
Jonathan Smith (2-1) picked up the win on the mound for the Cougars (5-1), but he needed relief help from Berry to close out the Buccaneers (0-6).
Paul Bertocci (0-3) went the distance in the loss.
Mountain Valley 13, Wiscasset 1
WISCASSET – Marcus Palmer and Matt Marr each hit a three-run homer in the seventh to power Mountain Valley to a 13-1 victory over Wiscasset in an MVC baseball matchup.
Nat Laubauskas pitched five innings, with five hits allowed to pick up the win for the Falcons (6-0). He also had two hits at the plate. Corey Devoe and Andy Shorey each had three hits for Mountain Valley.
Cony 16, Leavitt 11
TURNER – Tom Daniels hit a double and batted in three runs to help Cony in a 16-11 victory over Leavitt in baseball action.
Ryan Cotnoir had three hits and a double while, Tom Poulin and Joel Lajoie had three hits apiece for the Rams (1-6).
Tyler Angell had three hits, including a double for the Hornets (1-6).
Lisbon 6, Livermore Falls 5
LISBON – Four consecutive singles, capped off by Payton Austin’s two-run hit, sparked a four-run uprising in the fourth inning to lift Lisbon to a 6-5 victory over Livermore Falls.
The Andies (1-6) held a 3-2 lead when an error and a walk set the stage for the Greyhounds’ rally.
Singles by Matt Hathaway, Devan Knight, Mike Wilkins and Austin gave Lisbon (5-2) a 6-3 advantage.
Matt Cotnoir led the Andies with a two-run double.
Austin scattered five hits and struck out seven for the win.
St. Dom’s 15, Traip 3
KITTERY – Brady Blackman belted a three-run homer over the center-field fence to highlight a nine-run third inning to lead St. Dom’s to an easy 15-3 triumph over Traip.
Four consecutive hits, sandwiched around a pair of walks enabled the Saints (4-1) to break open what was a 2-1 game. Michael Carpenter added a two-run homer in the fifth.
Andy Allen (3-0) and three relievers limited Traip (3-3) to two hits.
Buckfield 4, Waynflete 3
PORTLAND – Dillon Emery blasted a two-run home run and Matt Lowell contributed a two-run double as Buckfield downed Waynflete 4-3 in baseball Friday.
Emery’s fourth-inning shot to left was his first round-tripper of the year and tied the game at 2-2.
Lowell’s drive to deep center in the top of the sixth broke the deadlock.
Cy Wilkinson (1-0) earned the win with a complete-game effort for the Bucks (6-1).
Peter Devine suffered the loss. Devine and Alex Bownin each had RBI singles for Waynflete.
Oak Hill 8, Camden Hills 0
WALES – Ethan Guerette had three hits, including a triple, a double and three RBIs to carry Oak Hill to an 8-0 victory over Camden Hills in baseball action.
Josh Jillson hit a triple and had two RBIs, while Eric Daniels had two hits, including a double for Oak Hill (4-3). Oak Hill starting pitcher Justin Plourde picked up the win in five innings of work with only four hits allowed.
Lacrosse
Biddeford 10, St. Dom’s 3
BIDDEFORD – James Palmer torched the nets with eight goals as Biddeford routed St. Dom’s 10-3 in boys’ lacrosse.
The Saints outshot the Rams 35-28 in the game, but could not solve goalkeeper Adam McKellar enough to outpace Palmer’s hot stick.
Aaron Martel chipped in with a goal and an assist for Biddeford (1-3).
Tavian McKinnon notched a pair of goals for St. Dom’s (2-2), with Cam McKee rounding out the scoring. Brian Kasabian stopped 12 shots.
