STANDISH – Noah LaRoche lit up the boards with 19 points Thursday to lead St. Joe’s to a 57-46 victory over the University of New England in collegiate mens’ basketball action Wednesday.

Marcus Alexander chipped in for the Monks (14-6) with 10 points, while Elbie Murphy added eight.

UNE 66, St. Joe”s 40

STANDISH – Senior Essie McKinnon netted a team-high 13 points to lead the University of New England to a 66-40 win over St. Joseph’s in men’s basketball action Thursday.

The Nor’easters (14-7) took a commanding 32-15 lead going into the break.

Senior Kelsi Royer of Lewiston had 10 points and three steals, while first year Brooke Weston of Dixfield had nine points and four assists for the University of New England.

The Nor’easters executed a strong defense throughout the game, forcing 31 turnovers and holding St. Joe’s to just 44 field goal attempts.

Monks (7-12) junior captain Kaylin Regula led all scorers with 14 points and seven boards. First year Sasha Bowen chipped in with seven points, four boards and two steals in the losing effort.
