ORONO – All High School girls’ and boys’ basketball teams in Maine are invited to participate in High School Days at the University of Maine on any of the following dates:
Wednesday, Jan. 11 – Women’s Hoops vs. Albany, 7:30pm
Saturday, Jan. 21 – Women’s Hoops vs. UMBC, 12 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 2 – Men’s Hoops vs. Hartford, 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 11 – Men’s Hoops vs. Albany, 7:30pm
High school teams interested in attending need to fax a copy of their roster to the Black Bear Sports Marketing Department at 207-581-3297. All rosters must be received at least one day prior to the teams’ game of choice. The names of all players and coaches attending must be included on the roster. To check in at the games, all students will need to have a picture ID in order to pick up their ticket.

Five named to academic team
ORONO – Five University of Maine football players were recently named to the 2005 Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team. The list included wide receiver John Bartemus, offensive lineman Shawn Demaray, defensive back Alex Goyins, defensive back Joe Vanidestine, and punter Rocco Navarro.
To be eligible for selection to Academic All-Conference team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher.
Bates to Webcast basketball games
LEWISTON – Bates College Athletics Director Suzanne Coffey announced that the college will sponsor its first-ever audio Webcasts of athletic contests, beginning with the men’s basketball team’s home game against Colby on Jan. 7.
Working in collaboration with D3Cast.com, Bates will offer live Internet broadcasts of a handful of basketball games this season. Also to be Webcasted, along with Jan. 7 Colby game at 3 p.m., will be the Bates women’s basketball team’s home games against Bowdoin on Jan. 13 at 7 p.m., and vs. Colby on Jan. 14 at 3 p.m.; the men’s basketball team’s home games vs. Middlebury on Jan. 20 at 7 p.m., and vs. Williams on Jan. 21 at 3 p.m.
