WATERVILLE – Joel Covelli scored his third game-winning goal of the season with 2:37 remaining to lift Colby men’s hockey team to a 6-3 victory over Southern Maine.

Although Southern Maine led 3-2 after the second period, the Mules (5-0) tallied four unanswered goals in the third period to capture the win. After Southern Maine picked up two penalties in a span of six seconds, Colby added back-to-back power-play goals by Greg Osborne and T.J. Kelly to break open what was a tight game.

Southern Maine (1-3) was paced by Mark Carragher with a pair of goals.

Bowdoin 80, USM 71

GORHAM – Kyle Petrie scored 19 points to lead the Bowdoin College men’s basketball team to an 80-71 win over Southern Maine.

The Polar Bears won their fourth-straight game and improve to 4-1. The Huskies fall to 2-2.
