RUMFORD – Erica Gats and Whitney McDaniel each tallied second-half goals to give Livermore Falls a 2-0 win over Mountain Valley in field hockey action Wednesday afternoon.

Gats netted the first goal unassisted for the Andies (10-2). McDaniel’s picked up a pass from Danielle Therrien to pop the ball in for the insurance goal. Sam Whiting needed to make only one save to preserve the shutout, while Kim Clark made nine saves for the Falcons (6-6) losing cause.

Oxford Hills 1, Lawrence 0

SOUTH PARIS – Tia Pratt netted the game-winning goal 28:23 into the second half of the contest to lift Oxford Hills to a 1-0 victory over Lawrence Wednesday.

Pratt brought the ball down from the 25-yard mark, dribbled it into the circle, and hooked in the unassisted goal. Kaymala Eells played an aggressive offensive game for the Vikings (6-6), while Sam Dollof was solid throughout the contest for the defense.

Poland 2, Waynflete 1

POLAND – Kristen Simpson converted a pass from Chelsea Gerard at the 14:36 mark of the second half to lift Poland to a 2-1 victory over Waynflete in WMC field hockey action Wednesday.

Nicole Stacey also tallied for the Knights (2-10-1) to round out the final tally. Dezaray DeBurra made five saves in net to record the win.

Lauren Clarke scored the Flyers’ (0-11) lone goal with just 1:32 remaining in the first half. Caroline Schnell handled netkeeping duties, turning back 18 shots on the day.

St. Dom’s 4, Old Orchard Beach 2

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Kayla McKay netted a pair of goals Wednesday to pace St. Dm’s to a 4-2 victory over Old Orchard Beach in a WMC field hockey matchup.

Chelsea St. Onge and Mary Lewis also tallied for the Saints (9-2) to complete the scoring. Lewis and Landry also recorded assists for St. Dom’s, while freshman keeper Austyn Carolin made 12 saves in net.

Courtney Rague scored both of the Seagulls’ (6-6) goals in the second half, while Kristy Geaumont turned away an astounding 26 shots in net.

Telstar 7, Jay 1

BETHEL – Mallory Brown recorded a hat trick Wednesday to lead powerhouse Telstar to a 7-1 rout over Jay in a MVC field hockey matchup.

Liz Rosenberg, Kayla Mills, Chea Davis and Jillian Kimball also talied for the Rebels (11-1) to complete the scoring. Stephanie Tripp needed only one save to notch the win.

Brianna Beisaw tallied the lone goal for the Tigers (4-8), while Melissa Allen turned away 12 shots in net. Telstar outshout the Tigers 24-3 in a wildly unbalanced contest.

Soccer

Maranacook 5, MCI 0

READFIELD – Alyssa Neptune recorded a hat trick and an assist as short-handed Maranacook girls’ soccer team blanked MCI 5-0 in a KVAC match-up Wednesday.

Jackie Mrazik chipped in with a pair of goals and an assist for the Maranacook (10-1-1) win.

Neptune’s twin sister, Eryn, was credited with two assists. Hannah DeAngelis and Shannon Bean played solid center-fullback games, while Danielle Poulin lef the midfield effort.

Melissa Piper turned aside three shots for the shutout win.

Buckfield 2, Richmond 2

BUCKFIELD – Lyndsay Henderson netted a pair of goals for Buckfield Wednesday as they played to a 2-2 tie against Richmond in a EWC girls’ soccer matchup.

Courtney Hill and Stephanie O’Brien notched goals for the Bobcats (7-2-1) to force the deadlock.

Veteran goalie Shayna Shackford made 18 saves in net for the Bucks (5-3-3), while Celia Carlton turned aside 10 shots for Richmond.

Oak Hill 3, Mt. View 1

THORNDIKE – Hanna Gagnon scored what ended up being the game-winning goal :16 into the second half of the contest to give Oak Hill the 3-1 advantage over Mt. View in soccer action Wednesday.

Skye Boulette scored the first goal of the game for the Raiders. Mt. Views’ Tonya Jones tied the game at 1-1 by the end of the first half.

Oak Hill came back and tallied two goals in the second for the win. Magan Blais netted the insurance goal to solidify the win for the Raiders.
