LISBON FALLS – Peyton Austin scored a pair of goals as Lisbon edged Carrabec, 4-2, in MVC boys’ soccer on Friday.

Evan Manocho netted the eventual game-winner, taking a pass from Matt Smith as he was cutting to the right side and lofting a shot into the opposite corner to open the scoring in the second half. Max Hathaway also scored for the Greyhounds (2-2-1).

Nick Caldwell and Sam Shaw each tallied goals for the Cobras (1-3-1).

Mike Wilkins stopped 12 shots for Lisbon. His counterpart Danny Estes also made 12 saves.

Mt. Ararat 2, Lewiston 1

LEWISTON – Caleb Levesque pounced on a loose ball near the goal line for the deciding score as Mt. Ararat (5-0) survived a battle of undefeated teams with a 2-1 victory over Lewiston in boys’ soccer.

The Blue Devils misplayed a free kick into their defensive zone, and Levesque came in on the the goaltender’s blind side to collect the ball and knock it across the goal line. Levesque also assisted on Noah Greenlaw’s goal to open the scoring.

Husayne Carnegie tied the game at 1-1 with 3:55 to play in the first half, redirecting a Jon Fornier free kick into the top left corner of the goal with his head.

Ryan Vermette preserved the win with eight saves in the Eagle net. Brian nason made six saves for Lewiston (4-1).

Monmouth 1, Livermore Falls 0

MONMOUTH – Sean Holbrook scored the game-winning goal 15 seconds into the overtime frame to lift Monmouth to a 1-0 win over Livermore Falls in MVC boys’ soccer action on Friday.

Holbrook scored his overtime goal on a double feed from Tyler Simoneau and Devin Robbins. Center halfback Patrick Trenholm controlled the play for much of the game and set up several scoring opportunities for the Mustangs (5-1).

Derek Ogden had five saves for the Andies (0-4-1), while Scott Neal had a superb game in goal for Monmouth with 19 saves.

Football

Wells 42, Lake Region 22

NAPLES – Nick Laude scored three rushing touchdowns to lead Wells to a 42-22 win over Lake Region in Campbell Conference football action on Friday night.

In addition to scoring 18 points, Laude recorded 208 yards on 27 carries for the Warriors (2-1). Wells never trailed, leading by 28 at its widest margin.

The Lakers (1-2) were paced by Lee Maher, who had seven rushes for 106 yards. Maher had a 79-yard run late in the first quarter to tie the score at 14-14 for the Lakers (1-2), but that was the closest approach for Lake Region in the loss.
