Kate Dickinson, 20, a junior at the University of Maine at Farmington and walking for U.S. team, finished first in the women’s 5-kilometer racewalk in the 20-22 age group at NACAC Racewalk Cup in Hauppauge, N.Y.
The meet includes competitors from North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
Dickinsom’s winning time of 28:15.
In the 17-19 race, Boothbay’s Lauren Forgues finished fourth in a time of 27:26.
Ben Shorey of Ellsworth added another win to his growing list of accomplishments, winning the men’s 20-22 10K with a time of 48:01. Shorey and Dickinson placed first and sixth in the National 15 one week ago.
In the boys 14-16 3K, Gardiner’s Aaron Carroll finished 3rd with a career-best of 17:17.
In Cambridge, Mass, on Sunday, Adam Staier, a senior at UMF, walked away from the field to win the Danehy Park 5-kilometer racewalk. In the women’s race, Sara Adams of Lisbon Falls finished 2nd in 37:32.
