SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Curt Schilling pitched a scoreless ninth inning, striking out one, to close out the Pawtucket Red Sox 12-3 win over the Syracuse Sky Chiefs on Saturday.
George Lombard, Kelly Shoppach and Roberto Petagine all homered for the PawSox.
Petagine drove in five runs and Shoppach added four RBIs, with a two-run homer in the first innings and a pair of sacrifice flies.
Tim Kester (8-4) got the win for Pawtucket, allowing three runs and five hits over seven innings. Mark Malaska pitched a scoreless eighth, before giving way to Schilling.
The right-hander is schedule to work again in today’s game against Syracuse, before possibly rejoining the Red Sox after the all-star break.
Sea Dogs fall short
MANCHESTER, N.H. – Maikel Jova hit a pair of triples to lead the New Hampshire FisherCats to a 6-3 win over the Portland Sea Dogs .
Jova went 2-for-4, scoring once and driving in a run. Rob Cosby went 2-for-4 with a double and scored two runs for the Fisher Cats.
Jason Pearson took the loss, giving up two hits and two runs in one inning.
